Remember “Relax and Win”?

First, I thought this was a great meet for us. I am very proud of everyone of you. But before I comment on that, I’d like to share the headlines from my Yahoo news feed…

Read about Lee Evans here…https://www.yahoo.com/sports/olympic-gold-medalist-human-rights-activist-lee-evans-dies-74-234712131.html

I remember when he won the gold medal at the 68 Olympics. I was about your age. I don’t even remember that he went to SJSU or that he was a local guy.

My recollection is that I thought he was wrong for doing it. But like many things, my opinions have changed over the years.

I think raising his fist was one of the bravest things anyone could do. That he did it makes me proud to be from San Jose. It makes me proud to be human.

Today, all of you made me proud too.

We may not have the opportunity to support our fellow man on the world stage like Lee Evans did, but if at some point in your life you’re able to help out your fellow man, stand up for the disadvantaged or just be kind to someone and if this team had anything to do with your actions, I would be honored.

Thank you.

I help swimmer have fun, improve, get fast and learn about the great sport of swimming. I've always loved coaching the swimmers who weren't as talented or world class fast but they loved the sport and they wanted to learn and improve. I want you to benefit from my coaching and training.
