Del Mar Swimming Goals

Perfectly rolled pool cover
Perfection. Something we strive for but never achieve.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. Goals for the team. Goals for you, the swimmers. Goals for me.

I’ve been reviewing the season in my head and wondering what we did well…and what needs to be better. What is the vision for the team. And this is important, because YOU have a lot to do with how you want the team to progress.

Here is an outline of what this review will look like…

  1. Review of this season. Good and bad. Things we had control over and things we didn’t. What we’d like to continue…what we want to change.
  2. Habits, traditions and rituals. This should come from you.
  3. Strength of the team. This should come from me. Though, it has to be approved by you. Think of it as the White House proposes the direction of the country and the legislators vote on it and make it so.

There are many parts to the strength and future of the team. Here are things I’m considering…

    a. Numbers of swimmers. How many should we have on the team. How can we build it up.
    b. Team communication. Instagram, Remind, Blog, Bulletin Board. Newsletter. Handouts.
    c. Making the team faster. What can we do to improve all the swimmers; from the ones coming in with a lot of experience to the brand new beginning athletes? For instance; water polo, dryland, year-round, other sports, etc.
    d. Fundraising and equipment. How can we get money for equipment and what equipment do we want or need?
    e. Outside support. Who can we get to help us? What can they do?
  4. Next steps. These will come from considering steps one through three.

I will be putting the details of my ideas on the next blog. Or maybe a couple of posts after. We have some important information about the last meet and the end of the season coming up.

And I want to figure out how to put a poll on a WordPress site. It should be easy…but I failed once.

I help swimmer have fun, improve, get fast and learn about the great sport of swimming. I've always loved coaching the swimmers who weren't as talented or world class fast but they loved the sport and they wanted to learn and improve. I want you to benefit from my coaching and training.
